A mild mannered accountant slaughters his family, creates a new identity, and eludes justice for 18 years. Excellent narrative describes the impact of the post WW2's warp speed changes to the economy, the upheavals of social norms, and the fading American dream on a church-going suburban dad as he slides into mass murder.

Previously, he was an assistant national editor at the Wall Street Journal and a reporter and columnist with the Philadelphia Inquirer. The author of four books of nonfiction and one novel, Sharkey is currently an adjunct professor of journalism at the University of Arizona. He and his wife live in Tucson.
